Overview
The Penney Family Fund (PFF) is inspired by emergent movements, designed by young people and BIPOC leaders, in service of the fight for racial and economic justice, safe and healthy communities, and political representation. To support these movements and their leaders, PFF funds creative and disruptive movement building—past grants have supported the student climate strike, the gun control movement sparked after Parkland, and the 2020 voter engagement work to build long-term power in BIPOC communities. The hope is that these grants provide responsive seed funding for the next generation of activists and movement builders.
PFF supports 501(c)(3) organizations that:
Are actively, and creatively, involved in policy and advocacy efforts as a main strategy
Engage in coalition work and work closely with allies
Create solutions that address the root causes of problems, such as racial and economic inequities
Involve youth and BIPOC at every level of the organization (including the board)
Demonstrate a strong commitment to leadership development and civic education
Promote civic engagement and strengthen democracy
